X-Rays

X-Rays are the primary tool for early identification of dental problems. Detecting issues with X-rays early can save you money in the long run. Early detection can help prevent the need for more extensive, costly procedures or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to detect the following:

  • Internal tooth decay

  • Cysts

  • Tumors (cancerous and non cancerous)

  • Impacted Teeth

  • Emerging Teeth (teeth that are not fully developed or grown in completely)

At Pageland Dentistry, we use digital x-ray technology which use 80% less radiation than traditional dental x-rays. This limits your exposure to radiation and is safer for you. Images are available for review instantly after exposure allowing your dentist to show you problem areas so they you can discuss options and treatments within minutes of imaging.

Ultrasonic Scaler

Ultrasonic Scalers use ultrasonic vibrations to break down plaque and calculus on the teeth that cause gingivitis and periodontal disease. These devices create microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the teeth, killing microbes and removing plaque and tartar. The ultrasonic scaler uses a thin tip to better navigate the periodontal pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health. The procedure uses water and/or an antimicrobial liquid called clorhexidine to remove tartar in hard-to-reach areas, without damaging the tooth enamel. Manual scaling often uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is barely perceptible. This makes ultrasonic scaling preferable for those with sensitive teeth.

Intraoral camera

An intraoral camera is a device about the size of a toothbrush and gives the patient a view of exactly what the dentist sees. Broken fillings, fractured teeth, decay and any other visual dental problem can be viewed so that your dentist can consult with you about potential treatments.
